but by fluency across surface disciplines: textile manipulation, vintage-inspired lacework,
cutwork, hand beading, embroidery and structural textile development.
Precision was non-negotiable. Craft translated into contemporary form without compromise.
Deeply influenced by Yoana Baraschi’s sculptural approach, vintage-inspired
textile manipulation became a defining strength. Floral constructions, origami folds, sculpted ruffles and
architectural pleating were developed to create dimension and controlled movement.
These constructions demanded restraint, ensuring volume enhanced silhouette rather than overpowering it.
It was here that proportion became principle.
Vintage-inspired lacework and cutwork at The Saffron Tree required exceptional control and sensitivity to fabric
behaviour. Archival lace patterns were reinterpreted to translate heritage craftsmanship into contemporary silhouettes.
A single misjudged incision could compromise an entire garment. The atelier worked with a skilled
panel of women artisans, carving each motif to create lightness, dimension and structural balance.

Developed in-house and executed across specialized artisan clusters in North India,
each piece underwent tiered quality control, single-knot securing and rigorous inspection to ensure precision,
durability and elevated finish. Beadwork demanded endurance. Hours of exacting attention cultivated
a culture where finishing was never secondary to design.
The atelier executed a wide range of heritage embroidery disciplines, working primarily with resham threadwork,
satin stitch, appliqué and dimensional floral compositions. Archival borders, botanical motifs and vintage textile
patterns were carefully reinterpreted, translating traditional embroidery language into contemporary silhouettes.
Each composition demanded precision, proportion and disciplined execution, ensuring the embroidery
supported the structure of the garment rather than overwhelming it.
